Russells are pleased to announce the successful acquisition of Cheshire Turf Machinery Limited, a move that will complement and strengthen its existing Groundcare and Groundcare Hire businesses.

Established over 30 years ago, Cheshire Turf Machinery provides a comprehensive range of professional groundcare equipment and services. Based in Manchester, the business serves customers across the North West, North Midlands and South Yorkshire, with a strong reputation for supporting golf clubs, professional sports teams and other customers within the professional groundcare sector.

Russells has acquired the shares of Cheshire Turf Machinery Limited. The business will continue to operate as a separate trading entity under its established name, with day-to-day operations remaining in the hands of its existing management team. Maintaining continuity of service and support for customers will be a key priority throughout the transition.

Paul Russells, CEO of Russells, commented:

“Ensuring continuity of service for Cheshire Turf Machinery’s existing customers is our priority during this period of transition. We are delighted to welcome the entire Cheshire Turf Machinery team into the Russells group and look forward to building strong relationships with their customers, while continuing to support the business’s established reputation and success.”

“This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity to strengthen our Groundcare offering and further develop the infrastructure and support available to our Groundcare Hire business.”

Established in 2007, Russells Groundcare has been a main Toro dealer since its inception, supplying the full Toro product range alongside comprehensive parts, servicing and customer support. Cheshire Turf Machinery is Russells Groundcare’s neighbouring Toro dealer to the west and also represents a range of complementary brands, including Ventrac, Redexim, Kress and Iseki.

The acquisition brings together two established businesses with complementary geographical coverage, expertise and customer relationships. It provides an opportunity to build on their respective strengths while ensuring customers continue to benefit from the specialist knowledge, products and services they have come to expect.

Steve Halley, Managing Director of Cheshire Turf Machinery Limited, commented:

“This acquisition represents an exciting new chapter for Cheshire Turf Machinery. Joining the Russells Group provides an opportunity to build on the strong foundations we have established over more than 30 years, while continuing to operate under our own name and retain the team and customer-focused approach that have been central to our success.

“Our priority remains delivering the high level of service our customers expect, and we look forward to working with Russells to support our customers and develop the business for the future.”

Alastair Rowell, MD of Reesink UK – Toro Golf and Commercial Distributor, added:

“Russells and Cheshire Turf Machinery have both established strong reputations for delivering high-quality products and customer support within the Golf and Commercial sector. We welcome this development and look forward to seeing the opportunities it creates for both businesses, their customers and the wider professional Golf and Commercial market.”

The acquisition marks an important step in Russells’ continued growth within the professional groundcare sector, strengthening its presence across the region and creating further opportunities to invest in customer support, service capability and the long-term development of its Groundcare and Groundcare Hire businesses.
