Russells has been serving and supporting farmers and agricultural communities throughout Yorkshire and many other parts of the United Kingdom for more than 100 years.

Russells was founded in 1849 by talented Blacksmith George Russell who designed and developed an award-winning range of horse drawn seed drills.

In 1921 Russells became a private limited company and for the next 65 years manufactured, marketed and sold an impressive array of farm machinery alongside many other renowned multinational manufacturers tractors and harvesters. Nowadays Russells encompasses ten agricultural and two groundcare depots representing more than 100 industry leading brands. Our dedicated teams can be found throughout Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

We are currently one of the largest New Holland dealers in the UK and have won many prestigious awards over the years including New Holland Dealer of the Year in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Agricultural Machinery – We offer an extensive range of equipment across our ten dedicated agricultural depots for farmers, small holders and contractors. Our main franchises include, New Holland, Manitou, Vaderstad, Pottinger, McHale, McConnel, Kongskilde, KRM Spreaders, Stewart Trailers, as well as Shelbourne Reynolds, Hustler, Mzuri, Dal-Bo, Nugent, Hi-Spec, Hardi, MacDon, Degenhart, Sulky, LWC, Lynx, Quicke, Shaeffer, and Walter Watson.

Groundcare Machinery – We provide a vast range of groundcare machinery to councils, contractors, wildlife parks, corporate clients, and high-profile sports teams including Leeds Utd, and Leeds Rhinos.     

Construction Equipment – We also specialise in many well-known construction equipment manufacturers including Takeuchi, Manitou, Red Rhino crushers, New Holland skid steer loaders, and Nugent plant trailers.

Tractor Accessories –  Tractor linkages for both trade and customer sales – We are the UK distributors for New Holland Degenhart front linkage and P.T.O systems.  – They are compatible with many other tractor brands including Case IH, Claas, Fendt, Kubota, Landini, McCormick, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, and Zetor.

Garden Equipment – We offer an extensive array of domestic garden machinery from manufacturers such as Honda, Stiga, Stihl, Atco, Kress, Westermann, and Dirt Driver. – These products are available online and through our dedicated depots at Cubley and Boroughbridge.

Russells has been serving the Yorkshire farming community since 1849 when George Russell the son of a blacksmith began designing and manufacturing horse drawn ploughs, harrows, and seed drills at premises in the Village of Great Edstone.

For the next 137 years the Russell family would be involved in the development, design, and manufacture of award-winning farming machinery, and would work with many leading multinational manufacturers during this time. Russells equipment would gain a strong following throughout the UK and the rest of Europe, whilst they also developed products for export territories in South America, and Africa during the 1950s and 1960s.

At the heart of their success was their family run foundry and headquarters at Kirkbymoorside which would remain their home for 118 years between 1890 and 2008. When Russells chose to cease manufacturing their own equipment in October 1986 they began to forge exciting new relationships with many well-known machinery manufacturers. This led to Russells expanding their dealer network, and coverage throughout the whole of Yorkshire. Nowadays Russells is run by fifth generation family member and managing director Paul Russell who has been at the helm of the business since 2003.

In 2008 Russells moved to a new headquarters on the outskirts of Malton, and has since become one of the largest New Holland dealers in the UK. In 2021 Russells celebrated their 100-year anniversary since becoming a fully incorporated private limited company.

At present the Russells dealer network encompasses twelve depots. Ten of these are dedicated to serving agricultural communities throughout Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, and Northamptonshire. The remaining two sites, are specialist ground care depots situated at Gilberdyke in East Yorkshire, and Rotherham in South Yorkshire.

Russells currently represents in excess of 150 different machinery manufacturers across its twelve depots. Russells are also heavily involved in community and charity work. They support, promote, and co-sponsor lots of events, and shows throughout the UK. Their dedicated staff regularly organise events such as village fetes, tractor road runs, ploughing matches, and dynamometer days to raise money for charity in their spare time.
